The Burlington is the most highly regarded restaurant in Yorkshire, boasting a Michelin star and 4 AA Rosettes...
Located at the Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel on the Duke of Devonshire's 30,000 acre Bolton Abbey Estate, even the drive to get to the restaurant is breathtaking, with fantastic views over the Yorkshire Dales, and of course the stunning backdrop of Bolton Abbey.
Superb food is part of the magic of The Devonshire Arms. Each dish is exquisitely and freshly prepared, using Estate meat and game with seasonal vegetables and herbs from their own extensive kitchen gardens.
The wine list is awe inspiring. Nigel Fairclough has been Cellar Master for Devonshire Hotels & Restaurants for over ten years and will be delighted to recommend specific wines to complement your meal. The wine list offers over 2,500 bins, and has won several awards over the years, including being named one of the top 10 in the country. The restaurant itself is supremely elegant with pale aubergine walls, adorned by classical architectural drawings (from the renowned Devonshire Collection at Chatsworth), and soft intimate lighting. Antique tables are dressed with designer silverware, fine crystal glasses and stylish white china, setting the scene for a memorable dining experience.
The Burlington at The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel at Bolton Abbey was named “Best Hotel Restaurant” for 2013 at the annual Oliver awards held last night in the impressive surroundings of The Centenary Pavilions in Leeds.
The Oliver Awards recognise the best in Yorkshire’s hospitality industry. On receiving the “Best Hotel Restaurant!” award, a delighted Andrew Mackay, General Manager of The Devonshire Arms, said: “This award really is special. Yorkshire has some excellent hotels and restaurants and so to be the best is praise indeed.”
He commended his staff for their commitment and enthusiasm. “The people who work here are paramount – it doesn’t matter how good our facilities are, it’s the staff that makes the difference. Time and again, I receive letters from guests who congratulate individual members of staff for their courtesy and care and, in particular, for their friendly approach.”
The Burlington at The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel is delighted to have retained its treasured Michelin star for the fifth year running in the Michelin Guide 2013. The Burlington has also been awarded 4 AA rosettes, making it the highest rated restaurant in Yorkshire.
