On 14th March, The Devonshire Arms will welcome Peter Sisseck, creator of the Pingus wine range, to the Yorkshire Dales. This exclusive event is an opportunity to mingle with like-minded wine lovers, and will be hosted in the 4 AA Rosette, Burlington Restaurant.
Head Chef Paul Leonard and his talented team are currently working on the perfect 6 course tasting menu to compliment and contend with a hand-selected collection of the Pingus range including Psi, Flor de Pingus and Pingus itself.
Our Chamapgne reception drink shall be a new vintage 2008 Laurent Perrier, characterised by an incredible aromatic richness.
Tickets for this event are £225 per person, or indulge by staying in one of our luxurious bedrooms for the evening.
Peter Sisseck, A Biography:
Sisseck's interest in wine began at a young age, where he was surrounded by prestigious wines from his uncle, Peter Vinding-Diers; who taught his nephew about wine-making particularly in the Spanish Ribera del Duero region, at a time where the area was not celebrated for producing great wines like today.
After an apprenticeship with his uncle, Sisseck studied at the Agricultural University of Copenhagen and then at the University of Bordeaux. Following this, he went to Ribera del Duero, and was hired as manager at the Hacienda Monasterio. It was here where Sisseck discovered the typical grape for the area, tempranillo, and used it to create his renouned Pingus wine.
Sisseck had an unorthodox practices focusing on a traditional method; the grapes each handpicked and sorted on the fields, then fermented in open wooden tanks as opposed to modern steel.
